In front of an impressive, margenily double digit spectator crowd on a hot Sunday afternoon, ze Germans were seeking revenge for an unfortunate 2:3 defeat suffered a few weeks earlier against the Brazilians. With slightly different line ups on both sides and the advantage of playing at their home pitch this time, GAS managed to secure a 4:0 victory, initiated by two crucial early goals by Almeroth (great assist from Hennies) and CB Meurers who knowingly waited for Hirschles special bump-freekick at the far post. Confident with their early lead, GAS maintained their momentum throughout the first half and created some more scoring opportunities which somehow remained unconverted.
The second half began way more balanced with chances and some good saves on both sides to keep not only the spectators at the edges of their seats, but also the score at 2:0 until the 61st minute. Then, a well timed corner kick was headed in by fairly unmarked CB Meurers (again?!) from 5 meters out and a few moments later Markus „Alu“ Almeroth decided the match by converting Hirschles cross in a Sunday league Van Persi flying header fashion against the rushing keeper to make it 4:0. Despite BFAs good efforts, GAS's early dominance and consistent performance ensured a well-deserved triumph. The match, filled with excitement, delighted fans and showcased the competitive spirit of both teams. Thanks to everyone for a fair and entertaining game.
Man of the Match - Sören "He's like Andre" Hirschle (but tough choice between the 3 assist man and double scorers Meurers and Almeroth)
