With more players injured than fit to play as well as a public holiday weekend the odd's seemed to be against GAS III with only 12 players available.
Anticipation was high as GAS III and BFA faced off once again in what has become a fixture both sides eagerly look forward to. The game kicked off with GAS III on the front foot, pressing high and dominating early possession. But just as GAS looked to convert their momentum, BFA struck first—thanks to a dazzling solo effort and, truth be told, a bit of German indecisiveness. 1-0 to BFA.
Despite the setback, GAS III refused to back down. Wave after wave of attacks surged forward before the halftime whistle, but the equalizer remained elusive. Much like the previous week, the feeling at the break was one of frustration—GAS knew they had more to give.
And they came out after the break with renewed purpose. It didn’t take long for the breakthrough. A blistering run down the flank by Chris Schwarz ended with a pinpoint cross that found newcomer Benjamin, who calmly slotted home his debut goal. 1-1 and game on.
From that point, GAS III looked in control. Matthew and Thomas anchored the midfield with authority, dictating play and keeping BFA on the back foot. The pressure eventually paid off as Chris Schwarz—having already provided the assist—got himself on the scoresheet with a well-taken finish to make it 2-1.
Chances kept coming, and GAS III looked poised to seal the win. But as legs began to tire, BFA’s patience paid off. In a dramatic final five minutes, they pounced twice—snatching victory from the jaws of defeat with two late goals.
It was a heartbreaking 3-2 loss for GAS III, who deserved a bit more today.
