After two narrow defeats in their previous matches, Dritte was determined to get back on track and fielded a strong lineup. The game began evenly, with both teams enjoying spells of possession, building from the back, and probing for openings in the opposition’s defense.
Dritte created a few dangerous chances early on, particularly through Christopher’s deliveries to Markus, but struggled to find the back of the net. After the first water break, Per Ola was introduced and made an immediate impact. Following a long throw-in that was contested in the air by both teams, the ball hung up for a second opportunity. Rising above everyone, Per Ola met it with a towering header, directing the ball into the top corner to give Dritte the lead.
Momentum was on Dritte’s side, and the second goal followed almost immediately. Nick played a well-timed pass to Ola, who spun and fired a precise shot into the bottom corner. Kamikaze responded with a few threatening attacks, but Aravind in goal, along with Nik and Nils in central defense, stood firm to keep them at bay. Dritte maintained their attacking pressure, with both full-backs, Marius and Chris, pushing forward effectively.
Their persistence paid off when Markus received the ball at the edge of the box and calmly slotted it into the bottom corner, making it 3-0 before halftime.
At the break, Coach Christian emphasized the importance of keeping a clean sheet while continuing to push for more goals—and Dritte delivered. The second half featured some excellent link-up play, and Markus added two more to his tally, one of which came from a brilliant strike from a tight angle (the other one… well, the details are a bit hazy!).
Diyar joined the scoresheet after a sublime backheel flick from Benjamin, who made an immediate impact upon his return to Singapore for two weeks. Benny then capitalized on a defensive mishap, slotting the ball into an open net after the goalkeeper struggled to deal with a dangerous cross from Markus. The final goal came courtesy of captain-for-the-day Chris, who pounced on a loose ball inside the box after a corner and rifled home a volley to seal an emphatic 8-0 victory.
A special welcome back to Benjamin Hempel, who wasted no time making an impact in his return to the team! Also, a warm welcome to Marius Eckmann, who made his first appearance for GAS III and put in a strong performance.
While the scoreline may have been a little flattering, it was a well-fought and competitive match. A key difference from our last two games was our ability to convert chances more efficiently, making the most of our attacking opportunities. We extend our thanks to Kamikaze and the referee for a great game of football.
MoM1 : Markus Almeroth with 3 goals
Special mention to Per Ola which always scores when he is around, hence join more often ?
