Showing up with some changes in the line-up, our team had quite a solid start into the game with decent combinations in the offensive that resulted in several chances, including Des’ shot on the left post in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, we faced a young & dynamic team that forced our players to avoidable mistakes, one of which led to the 0:1 when we played the ball into RTSB’s feet in the central midfield, next was a through pass to their striker scoring an easy first goal of the match.

But GAS 3 showed good spirit and shortly after Markus played a deadly pass through the defense to Steffen who shot the ball through the keeper’s legs into the goal.

Afterwards it was a balanced game with chances on both sides until again our team wasn’t fully focused and so we conceded another two goals to make the halftime score 1:3.

In the second half we brought some fresh legs and our gameplay looked slightly improved. After few minutes into the game, Kris scored a header after a “the cross of my life” (Marco’s own words) on the right side but the goal was disallowed as Kris was touchier with his hands than he was during the entire Carnival period last week in Germany.

When we had just found back into the game the next backlash happened: RTSB played a nice through ball on the right winger who passed it into the center box where it was first cleared by a joint effort of our defenders and Aravind, but the ball bounced back, and their striker just had to score it into the empty goal. It was 1:4 and we were lucky that RTSB didn’t finish any of their 100% chances as otherwise we could have easily conceded another 2-3 goals.

However, we got our act together in the last 20 minutes and suddenly increased the pressure which resulted in our second goal of the day when Ivan upfront passed the goal to Simonyo on the left who put it past the keeper: 2:4.

We continued to play with a lot of pressure and developed several good chances towards the end of the match but all our attempts either missed strength or accuracy to overcome RTSB’s goalie.

In the end it was a deserved loss against a fitter team which made less mistakes under challenging weather conditions. It wasn’t going to be an easy season with a number of strong new teams in division 1 but if we play like we did in the second part of the second half today, GAS III will soon find back on the track to success.
