GAS III back on track against Druzhba FC

After the deserved defeat against Kamikaze GAS III was looking forward to the match against our old friends from Druzhba FC.
Both teams needed to recover from their recent defeats and were highly motivated to secure the victory in this prestigious match.
However, preconditions for GAS III could have been better. Many regular players were missing because of holidays and the night before the game Nils had an accident. We wish him speedy recovery!
Coaches Christian and Fabian needed to shuffle around to find the right formation to compete against a strong and motivated opponent. Chris F. started in goal with Fabian and Richard as Centre Backs, Chris B. and Chris E. as Full Backs and Florian and Seb as defensive midfield. The offensive line started with Julian as attacking midfielder, Simonyo and Basti as forwards and Christopher as Striker.
The first 20 minutes were well balanced and both teams were equalizing each other until Druzhba put some pressure on GAS midfield and Seb was only able to stop the counterattack with a foul around 18 meters from our goal. Druzhba’s Man of the Match Samir converted the due free kick into the right top corner. No chance for Christian and 1-0 down.
The Team didn’t’ resign and started to push for the equalizer. The pressing got more and more intense and Julian scored his first goal after 30 minutes. Now GAS was in full control and pushed Druzhba into their third of the pitch. After a sharp corner from Basti which found Fabian’s head Christopher was able to push the ball across the line. 2-1 Halftime.
The second half started like the first ended with GAS III in control. Seb and Florian won every challenge in the midfield and long balls were deflected by Richard who became stronger every minute played. Chris E., Chris B., Simonyo and Basti kept up the pressure along the wings until Christopher scored his second goal of the day with a no look header into the left top corner.
GAS III kept up the pace and Julian scored his second goal after a beautiful solo in the 60th minute. GAS III brought fresh legs with Thomas, Martin, Dave and Kaj. Martin kept the fast and skilful Druzhba strikers Pasha V. and Stas under control and the new offensive line around Thomas, Dave and Kaj kept up the pressure on Druzhba’s defense until the last minute.
In summary the win was well deserved because Druzhba didn’t find any solution to overcome GAS III defensive lines.
Man of the Match was Basti because he was not only showing his offensive skills running his right line back and forth but was also throwing himself into every challenge even against three Druzhba players at the same time.
