On a warmer than ideal day at GESS pitch GAS took up a very physically and fastly playing CBD.
Despite some recent injuries (Rudi, Piotr, Martin, Schacher etc.) the lineup was solid with some folks still on the way to full form after injuries and holiday break.

The game started with well controlled possessions on both sides and chances for GAS with one brilliant pass from Uve into the empty space in front of the goal coming only one step to many to finish. First 20 minutes ended with a somewhat lucky goal for CBD when a center cross off the end line found its way to the net.

Gas bounced back relatively quickly when Micha took the ball in the middle area and with a defender on his back managed to put it in past the goalie. 1:1

During the second 20 min the game slipped up a bit for GAS and on the back of some scrambly defense we conceived the next couple goals to trail 1:3

Second half. After a proper pep talk by Alp and a motivating speech by Micha (highlighting team’s undeniable collective IQ?) GAS came out swinging. To back up the talk Micha’s sneaky corner execution found its way to the goal off of what looked to be the groin area of a somewhat confused defender. 2:3

It has to be mentioned that our lively and engaged bench had a contribution to the 3:3 equalizer by Winnie. Urs’s quantum compute fast analysis of the field and a foresightful direction to Winnie to occupy the far post for a free kick rebound ball yielded GAS’s an equalizer. First ever verbal assist has already been documented.

The draw has visbly shaken CBD up as hesitation, impatience and unnecessary aggresion has sneaked into their game.
At tha point GAS was a better team, passing on the ground cleanly and creating material chances, albeit not capitalized on..

Unfortunately one of CBD’s impatient passes along the right side followed by a cross found its way to our net. This combined with another fast counter a couple minutes before the end time sealed the outcome at 3:5, despite GAS’s few attempts including Chris’s shot just over the bar.

Overall a very well structured and organized performance against a strong team supported by good team spirit and properly coached by Alp.

Shout out to the defensive formation today, TK, Uwe, Kris, Jason and Joe in the goal for holding up the line against an offensively very strong opponent.
