Despite a strong line-up, we struggled to find the “groove” for a good part of the first 40 minutes. BC Bulldogs were the better team and created a number of half changes, which Joe in goal dealt with superbly. It took an injury to Alp midway through the first half to wake us and create a sense of urgency. A few minutes before the break BC Bulldogs conceded a corner which Stefan delivered perfectly into the box … and what subsequently happened is stuff we usually see only in the EPL or the Bundesliga. Samy arrived and hammered the ball into the top corner with a perfectly and beautifully executed header. What a goal! Shortly thereafter, after a foul at the edge of the box and a freekick for GSOS, Martin quick-wittedly took the ball and floated it towards the wide open goal, whilst BC Bulldogs were still trying to sort out their wall. Typically the type of goal we would concede. 2:0 at the break was a somewhat flattering scoreline for us. To the team’s credit we used the momentum at the start of the second half and soon found ourselves leading 4:0 after two well taken goals by David and Madse. We could have even improved our goal difference until the final whistle had we been able to better execute a number of last passes. Instead we were good hosts and allowed BC Bulldogs to score two goals and round up a nice game, which was played in good spirit.
