BFA Football vs GAS III 3:0

The new season kicked off under hot conditions @11 am in Ang Mo Kio Mayflower Secondary School. The match was against the league newcomer BFA Football.. the Brazilians and clearly someone from GAS thought the heat was enough and welcomed the Brazilians with a couple reminder of the 7:1, maybe not the best game plan given that GAS was short of couple of our best players light.

The set up from Fab and Christian was a more defensive orientated following the last pre-season match that had end with 1:4 defeat.

The game kicked off with high tempo and pressing from BFA but for the first 15 mins the GAS defense was as tight. Slight dominance from BFA was mixed with couple quick plays from GAS from throw in but no clear chance on either side. The only noteworthy event was Markus Brandt being unhappy with the music choice of the BFA goalkeeper.
Unfortunately after 17 mins the deadlock broke and via attack starting on left flank the Brazilians carved open the GAS defense and with couple quick passes in the box it was 1:0.
GAS team picked themselves up and carried on and created couple chance with some fierce long distance shots unfortunately most of them were tier 3 nosebleed section.

After the well need water-break BFA increased the tempo. Couple Tiki Taka moves create some chance including them hitting the bar from distance.
After 27 min Nils was faced with a 1 on 1 on the right edge of the penalty box and which unfortunately ended with a penalty for BFA which BFA scored clinically in bottom right corner. Being 2:0 down the game went into halftime break for GAS to re-group.
The second half started with GAS facing the second 11 from BFA given their 6+ substitutes.
GAS started more direct and in control of the game and create couple half chances from corners or distance shooting but was not able to capitalize from those.
Unfortunately the game then got a bit more physical with couple late challenges from BFA resulting in couple players from their side seeing yellow cards paired with BFA bench celebrating every throw in won like they won the league.
The game went on without major chances on both side and looked like it would finish at 2:0 until BFA scored again in the last minute of the game with a header from a corner.
Overall improved performance from GAS against a strong opponent ending with 3:0 defeat but if the GAS trend continues the team will be back to winning ways very soon.
