The German All-Stars caught a well start and netted three times in the first 20 minutes. Markus Brandt’s razor sharp on-side sprints resulted in two successful conversions in minute 7. and 17. In between, Steffen Hessel scored (14. Min) with an uncompromising low shot into the left corner. The game seemed to be decided and GAS took down the guard for the rest of the the first half, which resulted in progressive confidence on the other side. After the break, the game slowed down in the first part of the second half before “Football Heist” scored after an individual dribbling over half of the pitch. In response, the German All Stars refocused and managed to get hold of the ball, with a few attractive combinations across the mid-field and defense line. Shortly after, Fabian Kubitza set the score to 4-1 with a technically sophisticated direct volley from a corner - to be
mentioned: with his weaker left foot. The game seemed to be set, however, “football heist” didn’t give up and kept the pressure high. Thomas “Katze” Corbett managed to save several shoots on the goal and was afterwards awarded player of the match. Unfortunately, “football heist” still achieved to score twice, which brought unnecessary pressure into the game that seemed to be decided. The referee had a tough time to lead and manage the game. Yellow cards were only shown three times (GAS: Markus Brandt and Nils Croeger). Whereas one player from “football heist” was sent off the pitch with a blank red card after a reckless tackle against Nils Croeger. Besides some debatable situations, including a potential penalty for GAS, the game ended with a three point win for the Germans, placing the team in midfield of the league’s table.
