The night after a legendary “warm up training” ...

The night after a legendary "warm up training"the premium GASS seleção touched down @ International Sports Club of Indonesia ISCI, an ultramodern 20th century sports facility featuring a soccer pitch with organic lawn and blades of grass as long as Papa Z's "Haupthaar".
Rumor has it that ISCI pitch designer has taken a Ritter Sport chocolate bar as blueprint for his landscaping masterpiece. For those full-time professional soccer players shooting for the moon, there was still a second chance to score via the above American football goals.
At arrival GASS seleção has been given a warm welcome by the local host team with a nice Indonesian tradition in form of a Carlsberg beer. The “ice” was broken, thus all perfect conditions for exceptional physical endurance talents like us.
Then as of a sudden the crowd stopped talking and venerable witnessed the divine arrival: As the man, the dad, the legend and the “Lichtgestalt” of Indonesian Soccer has been send from heaven to earth to play with the ordinary human beings. Just like Zeus in the old times.
Having a closer competitive look to our opponent team: German Plus Jakarta, we immediately spotted their youngest player (only 19. years old), who could still play in the “A Jugend” junior league and a semi- professional player aka “the Leverkusener”, who could probably make his living with soccer contracting with Manchester United or Juventus Turin. Some may say a classic fair play scenario. However, this all did not much impressed GASS seleção, as the team motivation could have not been higher to beat Papa Z’s army of talented soccer mercenary on the pitch.
GASS seleção started with a classic 4-4-2 formation, based on the incredible cognitive creativity of our star goalie & team coach: Christian aka the “Seehund”. Then the official FIFA referee: Ole aka the “Eagle eye” (the most neutral referee soccer the world has ever seen) kicked off the game and the spectator’s tribune with about 2 to 3 soccer fans where frenetic cheering both teams: a “Hexenkessel”.
First chance for German Plus Jakarta team who approached dangerously close to the penalty box and were able to mark their first shot on GASS seleção goal from a very pointed angle, usually not a problem for a star goalie like Seehund, but the ball somehow slipped between his legs, like a newborn baby. In this case slight point deduction for Seehund “in der Haltungsnote”, but no harm.
Unfortunately, a few minutes in the game, Stula’s Stefan had to give up due to injured back and later in the game Andreas got hit by his opponent and needed to be substituted as well, thus GASS seleção thinly stretched substitute contingency dropped down to zero. This meant all hands-on deck now and bite until the final whistle.
GASS seleção’s early pressing and good defense positioning paid off at a very early stage of the game and created a few good chances right from the start. Then GASS seleção fast counterattack started by Steffen and a great solo run with a final pass to Markus aka the “Tormaschine” who smashed the “Kanonenkugel” in the opponent’s goal net. Score 1:0 and no offside (as the referee has seen with his eagle eyes).

German Plus Jakarta team also had a couple of good chances to score, primarily driven by the youngster who was dribbling GASS seleção defense into a delirium and missed the goal several times only by millimeters. The answer from German Plus was not waiting for long and while GASS seleção defense had some internal communication challenges, German Plus team took the liberty and scored by their striker. Score 1:1. Half time break.
Beginning of 2. half time out of the blue number 24 from German Plus Jakarta team took a brave shot approximately 20m of Seehund’s goal and with a flight trajectory of a “Manni Kaltz Bananenflacke” the bullet hit the right post. No goal.
Then with a solid run from Kai on the right line he passed the ball to David and David back to Markus with a nice direct Tiki Taka combination and a final pass to Steffen who scored his first goal through the broken goal net. Score 2:1.
Another great attack via Markus with an incredible solo play, dancing with 2-3 German Plus defenders and finally passed to Steffen, who scored his 2 goal in a row. 3:1. GASS seleção became a bit too complacent and the long runs on this humongous pitch took its toll. GASS seleção left too much space in the middle field which allowed German Plus to cross from defense to offense seamlessly often lead by Jan (our former GASS player) and could bring their youngster into a good shooting position.
GASS seleção tried to set the wingers into play with fast passes to the line, but one after the other had been intercepted by the “Leverkusener” who has just been in a different league. Even Kai had the chance to break through and even with a 10m lead the “Leverkusener” effortlessly took the ball from his feet with an extra pirouette and just disappeared with lightspeed.
GASS seleção had a couple of other chances with fast counterattack runs from Steffen & Markus, which ended in several offside situations.
German Plus team crossed once more the middle field with less defense effort from GASS seleção and their youngster forwarder again scored with an outstanding solo performance two more goals in a short amount of time which led to a draw 3:3. All in all a fair end score as this was a great friendship game on the same eye level.
Some wise men said, it felt like a lose which was primarily driven by our missed goal chances in the offense, some more wise man said, the right defender was more focused on off the pitch entertainment. At the end a great team performance with lots of fun and again a big Thanks to our German Plus hosts for an incredible and unforgettable soccer weekend.
P.S: Markus could definitely start a second career as Malle DJ: outstanding music entertainment performance and remember: ”Der Zug hat keine Bremse!”.
