A clinical British Exiles side, strengthened by a new playmaker, took revenge for two first round losses, courtesy of a thoroughly uninspiring performance of GSOS team 1, especially in the first match. While both teams sussed each other out for about ten minutes with neither side creating anything dangerous, two easy and avoidable goals after 12 and 13 minutes sealed it for BE. Any attempts by GSOS to claw a way back into the game fell afoul of too many wrong decisions in the last third of the pitch. A last minute goal made it three for a final score GSOS 0, Exiles 3.
The second match could only get better and, indeed, GSOS were creating pressure and plenty of opportunities with Urs, Jos and Flo all having decent attempts on goal. However, it was one of those days when the ball just didn’t want to cross the line. Defenders throwing themselves into the ball’s path or the Exiles ‘goalie prevented any joy for GSOS today. And thus happened what had to happen: A short lack of focus in defense and the Exiles scored a late, perhaps slightly fortuitous, winner. GSOS 0, Exiles 1.
