Against Champaign Rovers we knew what to expect. Disciplined rock solid English ... and that was spot on. Despite a couple of good chances, Kolja hit the cross bar, Dimi and Kolja with only the keeper to beat and a couple more good shots, but off target it came as expected. With their first half chance, Rovers scored with a deflected ball into our net. Martin with no chance. GSOS tried all to get the equalizer, but in vain. 0-1 game lost.
To stay ahead in the overall table we needed a win in the second game. But today it wasn’t meant to be. When Kolja got body checked (he was furious, but what can 75kg do against 100kg on the other side) it took another 20 seconds and the ball was again in GSOS’ net. 0-1 down again. Some heated discussions on the pitch followed and cool English skills against some German-Swiss hectic over-motivation lead to two additional quick goals for the Rovers. 0-3 down, but the GSOS showed character and continued trying everything until the end. But a consolation goal by Kolja after a nice assist from Knipser was all we got. Considering we lost now three out of four games against the Rovers, kudos to them ... deserved winners today.
