Anyway, coming into this weekend’s games sitting on top of the table (we’ll mention this as long as it lasts) the strategy was clearly laid out by Urs: have fun, which is easier when you win the games.
It took Floh around 12 seconds to put the ball into the net. That calmed any nerves there may have been. Cuong then added some spice by injuring his foot in the second minute. He was unable to walk or kick a ball properly. That robbed us of the so important fourth player going forward. But the team showed a tremendous football brain and adapted Jose Mourinho’s “we park the bus” strategy. We absorbed all the pressure there was and on one of our crisp counter attacks Alex put the contest beyond the Exiles. 2:0 final result.
For the second game, we planned to repeat, but Floh somehow did not get the message that we wanted to score early. So it was Alex who scored the opener with a neat finish. Exiles replied immediately and drilled the ball into the bottom corner, nothing Cuong could do. The heat started to take its toll, and the pace was pedestrian at best. One of the nice build-ups saw a triple “1-2” between Urs and Alex, who finished coolly. Urs then finished any hopes of an Exiles comeback with the third goal.
