As expected, it was the intense and physical match against the Vikings. We got rather slowly into the game and our opponents capitalized on a lack of coordination in our defense after only three minutes: 0-1. The shock was digested quickly, though, and we started to play some decent football, creating plenty of scoring opportunities. However, even several gilt-edged chances, including no less than three one-on-ones with the opponent's goalie, didnt lead to the equalizer. On the stroke of halftime we were even a bit lucky that the upright saved us from yet another Viking's goal, following a dangerous corner. More of the same in the second half: Germans attacking and Vikings defending. Eventually it was Jan's hammer from the edge of the box that brought us the well deserved equalizer. And just minutes later a defense splitting pass found Marco in front of the goalie and he converted this opportunity with a beautiful lob. 2-1 it was. But the story of the match wasn't finished yet as the Vikings punished us twice for ht became a rather lackadaisical play and an utter lack of focus in the final five minutes. 2-3 was the final score. A completely needless loss but well done, Vikings. MoM: Steffen for a superb performance as let back.
